About this site

Privacy

This site collects nothing about you. There is no account to make, no newsletter to join and no form that sends anything anywhere.

What happens when you use a calculator

Everything you type stays in your browser. The room dimensions, the electricity rate, the answers about your property: none of it is sent to this site or to anyone else, because there is nowhere for it to go. The arithmetic runs on your own device. Close the tab and it is gone.

If you sign in to the forum

Everything above is about reading this site, and it stays true however long you read it for. The forum is the one part where you can choose to hand something over, and this is all of it.

Your email address
It is how you sign in, because there is no password. It is never shown on the site and never used for anything else.
The name you choose
It appears above everything you write, which is the point of it.
One cookie
A random session id, set when you sign in and gone when you sign out. It carries nothing about you and no script can read it.
What you post
Public, by design, and indexed by search engines like the rest of the site.
A removed post
Kept rather than deleted, with the reason it was taken down, because the law expects a record of what a site removed and why.
A challenge from Cloudflare
The sign-in and posting forms ask Cloudflare Turnstile whether they are talking to a person. Cloudflare sees your IP address when they do. It is not analytics and it sets no tracking cookie.

To have an account and its posts removed, write to david@kabooly.com. Posts that were removed for breaking the rules are kept, unpublished, because a record of what a site took down and why is exactly what the Online Safety Act asks for.

What the host sees

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, their servers process the request your browser makes, which includes your IP address, in order to send the page back. That is how the web works rather than something this site chooses to do, and none of it reaches us or is stored by us.

Where a page links to legislation, to a data source or to a manufacturer's specification, that site has its own privacy policy and we have no control over it.

If this ever changes

If the site ever adds analytics, a form or anything that collects information, this page will say so before it happens rather than after. Until then there is nothing to request, correct or delete, because there is nothing held.
